Gurkha was one of the hardest hit areas, including the Singati Bazaar, where over 100 bodies were buried under the ruble following the 7.8 magnitude April 25, 2015 earthquake and May 12th aftershock. Singati was the major market for residents of 21 Village Development Committees and many survivors of the April 25th earthquake were in the bazaar buying supplies when the aftershock hit causing a huge landslide.
